Kalaignar Karunanidhi Technical College, in collaboration with Sorbonne University, France, has designed an innovative LiDAR-based drone by students.

Under the guidance of Professor G.A. Sivashankar, Head of the Department of Aeronautical Engineering at Kalaignar Karunanidhi Technical College, and Professor S. Kumaresan, Founder of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Educational & Social Welfare Trust, students Victor, Mukeshwaran, Krishna Varun, Surya, Ilango, Lakshmi Prashanth, Janani, Priya, and Harish have worked together to design a drone equipped with LiDAR technology. LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology-based drones are useful across various fields. These drones utilize light wave frequency analysis to measure the surface of the earth, buildings, and other natural resources with great accuracy. Through these drones, precise path planning can be achieved, and obstacles can be avoided. They can also detect trees and other natural obstacles in forests and woodland areas, which greatly aids in forestry applications. Kalaignar Karunanidhi Technical College, in collaboration with Dr. A.P.J.
